Steelmen Fans To Walk 5.00 Miles for Lakelands Hospice
The Steelmen Travel Club has organised a sponsored walk on Saturday 13 November 2010, before the home fixture with Workington, in aid of Lakelands Hospice.
The walk will begin at 11.30am from Lakelands Hospice in Butland Road, Oakley Vale and end at The Rockingham Triangle Stadium. Corby Town manager Graham Drury will be walking the first mile too, before returning to The Triangle to begin preperations for the match.
All supporters are urged to take part and help raise as much money as possible for this excellent local charity. Sponsor forms are being distributed by Connor, who can be contacted on 07584687843.
The supporter who manages to raise the most money will also receive a signed Corby Town home shirt as a reward.
The Travel Club will also have buckets to collect money during the walk and at the match for those not taking part so please help us support this worthy cause.
Lakelands Day Care Hospice (Charity Reg. 1062120) provides respite day care facilities for adults in North Northamptonshire, South Leicestershire and Rutland. Since opening in 2001, the Hospice has helped over 2000 families in the area and continues to grow in order to meet the great need for respite day care.
The Hospice relies entirely on voluntary donations and support from the community to remain open. In 2010 Lakelands needs to raise in excess of £450,000 to keep its doors open.

Could history repeat itself in The FA Cup? Corby head to Kenilworth Road hoping they can achieve the same outcome as those famous mudsoaked heroes of 1965. The Hatters snatched a late equaliser back then, as they did last Saturday at The Rockingham Triangle to take the match to a replay, which The Steelmen won 1-0 thanks to a Maurice Goodall strike.

Hi All
Just a small update and where The Steelmen Travel Club are at and what we are looking to do in the future.
So far this season we have only missed one game, which I think is a fantasic effort compared to last year. I was speaking to Graham Drury yesterday and he has said that if we can keep filling buses like we do, then he will pay for bus to last away game which i think is a really nice gesture to the fans. In the kitty at the minute we have £210, which is great because if we are ever short on numbers, we will not be out of pocket.
A huge thank you too, to everyone who travels with the Steelmen Travel Club to matches. We have received brilliant reports from Wilsons coaches with regards to keeping the buses in great condition. So well done all and keep picking up rubbish etc. and treating the buses in the right way.
The Travel Club is also planning a sponsered walk for Lakelands Hospice - I have a meeting with them on Tuesday so all sponsor forms will be given out with details once I have them. The supporter who raises the most money will be rewarded with a signed home shirt. We urge all supporters of the club to please support this as it is for a great cause and will also provide the club with great publicity. If anyone has anyone has any fundraising ideas or would like more information regarding The Steelmen Supporters Club do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks
Connor McNally |
