Drury Has Demands To Make It Count

Graham Drury does not want Corby Town's weekend win at Stafford Rangers to be just another false dawn.

The Steelmen picked up their second win in their last three matches in the Blue Square Bet North after Andy Hall's hat-trick inspired them to victory over struggling Rangers.

However, it was only the Steelmen's second win in six games since the turn of the year.

Moreover, they followed up their previous win at Worcester City with a defeat at Vauxhall Motors.

But as they prepare to face Eastwood Town at home this weekend, Drury is urging his men to ensure that the result at Stafford is the start of a decent run and not just another flash in the pan.

And he also wants his team to cut out the errors at the back.

"I was pleased with the result at Stafford and it was about commitment and a hard-working performance," he said.

"However, we conceded three goals again and that's three bad points that we need to work on ahead of Eastwood.

"Five goals tells me we are not having trouble scoring but we need to cut out the errors at the back.

"Eastwood are going to be tough and they will have seen the result at Stafford and believed that we have defensive frailties.

"I'm disappointed that we have not been able to put together back-to-back wins for some time now and I want that to change on Saturday.

"We talk about wins being something to build on and the result at Stafford is that - of course it is.

"But every time we've said that of late we seem to shoot ourselves in the foot.

"If we hadn't thrown away some silly points this season, we would be right up there in the thick of it.

"But we'll keep plugging away and take each game as it comes and see where we end up.

"All the boys can keep doing is working hard and showing commitment in every game for the rest of the season.

"We've got a very, very small squad now and it's going to be difficult.

"But the lads have just got to stick together and stay positive for every game we're involved in."
