Steelmen Score Energy Fit Makeover
E.ON have today announced that The Steelmen are one of two winners of their national 'Energy Fit' Club Makeover Competition. Alexandra Park FC are the other lucky club in a competition that entitles both winning clubs to an 'Energy Fit' efficiency makeover of up to £40,000 plus an FA Cup visit.
The online competition conducted through Facebook was launched by Energy Fit campaign ambassador and England captain, Rio Ferdinand several months ago at his childhood club Eltham Town. Research by E.ON had shown that amateur football clubs could on average save up to 30% on their yearly energy bills, thus prompting them to launch the nationwide competition in an effort to encourage a greater awareness and understanding of how energy efficiency can save clubs money.
Corby Town and Alexandra Park were two of 10 clubs shortlisted from nominations made by Facebook account users who voted for their respective clubs along with previous winners Leamington FC and Chadderton FC. E.ON then conducted an Energy Fit survey of each club followed by a telephone questionnaire and an interview with our late Club Chairman Peter Mallinger. A panel of judges then selected the winning clubs based on two key criteria:the potential impact of an energy makeover on the clubs facilities and the potential benefit to the local community.
Everyone associated with Corby Town FC is absolutely delighted to have won the competition. We do not know the details of the makeover at present, but clearly their will be significant annual savings on our future energy bills.
