No Issues Within The Squad
Graham Drury has denied there is any dressing-room unrest at Corby Town. Rumours of discontent surfaced in the wake of Saturday's crushing 6-1 defeat by Eastwood Town.
But now the dust has begun to settle after the game and Drury stressed that his players are all still all singing from the same sheet.
“The players have been concerned about the comings and goings at the club in the last couple of weeks after Peter Mallinger died,” Drury admitted.
“But that's merely just a feeling of uncertainty that always comes in situations like this and I need to keep stressing to them that things are positive with the new board now in place.
“There's certainly no division in the dressing-room or anything like that.”
Team spirit will certainly be needed this week as the squad looks to move on from the Eastwood game.
“It's something we have to just draw a line under and move on because you cannot change what has happened,” Drury continued.
“It was a bad result and one we were not happy about but the fact is now that's happened.
“It's gone and we need to sweep it under the carpet and focus on the next game.
“The problem we have at the moment is a lack of consistency and that's not helping the players either as, at the moment, they either turn up for games or they don't.
“We'll only find that consistency by getting our heads down and working hard in training to put right what we're doing wrong.
“Against Eastwood the problem was clearly an inability to defend from crosses and set-pieces at the far post.
“Four of Eastwood's goals were scored at the far post so that is clearly something we need to work on hard this week.”
Meanwhile, injured skipper Richard Lavery should be back in action for the Steelmen within two weeks.
Lavery has been out since New Year's Day when he further aggravated a long-standing ankle problem that, up until then, he had been playing through.
But treatment over the past month has seen the injury improve and Lavery hopes to return to the side within a fortnight.
