Starmer: "Brilliant To Have David As Chairman"

Corby Town director Graham Starmer has hailed the arrival of David Mallinger as the new acting-chairman as “brilliant”.

Mallinger, the son of the club's former chairman Peter who passed away last month, will join the board in a restructuring that will see Helen Thompson continue as chief executive and Graham Starmer and Ian Hopewell stay on as directors.

Former chairman Les Manning and directors Mick Leech and David Dunham have resigned their positions but will all continue as non-executive directors.

Mallinger junior is a former general manager of Electric Mobility Corporation Canadian Operations and is now director of North American operations for FootballCV – the football trials business he and his father Peter founded in 2000 with Starmer.

And it is the success of that working relationship that excites Starmer for Corby's future.

“It is brilliant that David is becoming involved and I'm delighted that the future of Corby Town will remain with the Mallinger family,” he said.

“I have worked with David and Peter for the last 10 years with FootballCV and he will help us bring financial stability to the club.

“The last three or four weeks have been very difficult.

“But with the new stadium and the new board structure now coming into place, I expect things to start developing quite quickly.

“Everything we do will be solely with the benefit of the club in mind.”

Mallinger is out of the country at present but said in a statement: “I am pleased to have the opportunity to continue the good work my father started at Corby in 2007 and to ensure a fitting legacy at Rockingham Triangle in his memory.

“I would also like to place on record my thanks, particularly to Les Manning, David Dunham and Mick Leech for the tireless work and contribution they have made to the club, especially since my father's death.

“We are very positive about the future of this football club otherwise we wouldn't be here.

“We would like to thank the supporters for standing by the club during this period.

“It is our intention, as guardians of Corby Town, that their loyalty will be rewarded in the future with everything that we're aiming to achieve.”
