Triangle Gives Drury His Wish

Graham Drury insists he and his players have got what they wanted after it was confirmed Corby Town will play Luton Town in the FA Cup at Rockingham Triangle.

There had been concerns that the Steelmen would not be able to take on the Blue Square high-fliers on their own ground for safety reasons.

But the first-round tie will go ahead at the Triangle next Saturday, albeit with a reduced capacity of just over 2,000.

And Drury, whose team are unbeaten at home this season, believes his side can continue that sort of form when the Hatters come to town.

"It's great news but it is a shame we have had to lose 1,000 or so off the capacity," the Corby boss said.

"But this is Corby's big day and it's only fair on the fans and the people of the town that is should be played at the Triangle.

"There are obviously a lot of extra costs that come with a hosting a game like this.

"But I just think it's fantastic that Corby Borough Council and our chairman Peter Mallinger are willing to make those sacrifices.

"Peter could have easily moved the game and made more money. But he wants the fans to have their day at home and that's what they have got.

"From the management team's and the players' points of view, we have got what we wanted.

"We have been in good form at home this season and having the game there gives us a much better opportunity of winning the game."

Despite the excitement of the FA Cup, Drury has urged his side to focus on Saturday's Blue Square Bet North home clash with Blyth Spartans as the Steelmen look to maintain a play-off challenge.

"Anything that happens in the FA Cup from now on is a bonus," he added.

"Our focus has to be on the league and making sure we move up the table.

"It won't be easy on Saturday because Blyth had a good win in their last game and we have to make sure we are ready for them '
