Corby Will Face Hatters at The Rockingham Triangle
Corby Town will host Luton Town at The Rockingham Triangle stadium in the First Round proper of The FA Cup, after a successful meeting with Northamptonshire Police, Corby Borough Council, Northamptonshire Fire Service and The FA this afternoon.
The club feared that they would not be allowed their home advantage and would be instead forced to play at either Rockingham Road in Kettering or Nene Park in Rushden as an alternative venue, however the parties eventually managed to reach an agreement which has resulted in the town hosting an FA Cup First Round tie for the first time since 1967.
Corby Town have had to meet Police regulations, including new CCTV cameras and restricting the attendance to just 2000. The away side will be allocated 434 tickets for the fixture, a mix of 178 standing and 256 seating. The remaining 1500 home tickets will go on sale straight after the Corby Town v Blyth Spartans match on Saturday.
Each person attending Saturday's Blue Square Bet North encounter will be entitled to 2 tickets each. If any tickets remain they will go on public sale in the Corby Borough Council One Stop Shop in Grosvenor House (near McDonalds) at 10am on Monday Morning.
All supporters must provide identification of Corby residance when purchasing tickets, in order to ensure only home supporters in the home end.
There will be 659 seated tickets priced at £15. Standing tickets are priced at £12. The price increase is to cover the cost of extra stewarding and policing.
Corby Borough Council Chief Executive Chris Mallender told corbytownfc.co.uk; "It is great news that we have managed to get the match played at our own ground in Corby. We have had to make a few sacrifices, however it is great for the supporters and the borough to be playing it here."
"We did not want to have to play the match elsewhere, because we feel as though the side would have given up the home advantage. We are on a great run at The Rockingham Triangle, and we have to feel confident that we can progress to the next round."
"The whole Corby borough will be behind the team, so anybody who wants a ticket should get themselves to the Blyth Spartans match on Saturday to give themselves the best chance of securing one."
