Drury: "Reward Chairman's Efforts"
Graham Drury has called on his Corby Town players to win for chairman Peter Mallinger when they face Salisbury City in the FA Cup tomorrow. The Steelmen face the Whites in the fourth qualifying round with a place in the first round proper for the winners.
And Drury believes earning the chance of a glamour tie against a big npower League side next month would be a fitting way for the players to
reward Mallinger for the way he has backed them and the manager over the last two years.
"I always want to give the chairman something back because he supports us and puts his hand in his pocket week in, week out," said Drury.
"So I'd love to get through to thank him for the support he's given me and it would potentially be a great day out for everyone at the club.
"But that's all in the future and it won't happen at all if we don't beat Salisbury tomorrow so we need to focus totally on that first of all."
Winning tomorrow would not just be a big thank you to the chairman.
Drury knows the financial rewards could be huge if they get through on the pitch and then get lucky in Sunday's first-round draw.
"It's very important for everyone for us to make it through because it's such a boost for the club on so many levels," Drury continued.
"It's great publicity for the club and in terms of money, it would be worth £12,500 straight away.
"Then if we could get a good draw, we could be looking at £50,000 to £100,000 with television rights, and that will only increase if we went further still.
"Salisbury will be tough, we know that and we're not taking them lightly.
"But we're at home and we've done well at home this year and I want us to keep that going.
"Salisbury are brave in their approach and like to attack.
"But I think they will also be happy to take us back to their place for a replay.
"We certainly don't want that so we'll be going all out to win it at the first attempt tomorrow."
