Drury Looking To Play The Markets

Graham Drury intends to use Corby Town's exit from the FA Trophy to his advantage by entering the transfer market in the coming weeks. Drury's injury hit side saw their cup aspirations come to an end in the 2-1 reverse at Telford, three days after Luton Town knocked them out of The FA Cup, but the boss reckons that it could be a blessing in disguise.

"In a way I am glad that we are out of The FA Trophy and FA Cup because we can now have a bit of player movement. No-one wants to lend you any players because they might be cup-tied but now my hands aren't tied and I can try to do a bit of work in the market. I know what we need and I'll have to attempt to go out and find it.

"There are areas where we can improve and we'll have to do that if we are to get where we want to be. Our main priority has to be to get into the play-offs. We need to get our players fit again and hopefully see a bit of transfer movement in order to achieve that.

One recent signing that Drury has been able to make is former Rushden and Diamonds skipper Andy Burgess who made his debut at The New Bucks Head on Saturday. And Drury was pleased with how the midfielder started his Corby career.

"I thought Andy had a good game and he is an excellent addition to the squad. We just need to get him fit. He hasn't done anything for six weeks but he will get the wide men involved and the forwards played into feet and that's the sort of thing that we need."
