Fans Proud Of Their Team
As the large traveling Corby Town support filtered out of The Oak Road Stand last night there was an evident sense of pride for all to see. Not only for their team's spirited fight back against The Hatters, but for the memorable cup run which had just come to an end at Kenilworth Road.
The Steelmen fans were magnificent all evening, despite the 12th man soon becoming the 11th man following Nathan Jarman's early sending off, which he later apologized for.
One pleased supporter told corbytownfc.co.uk: "Tonight was brilliant, the atmosphere was the best I have ever been to. I thought that the players all battled well. You could see that some of them were running on empty against a full time side who are fighting to return to The Football League, but the Corby never-say-die attitude shone through and we pulled 2 late goals back. I am so proud of the fans who were terrific and the players for their efforts."
Another said "Corby have given us an FA Cup run to be proud of, it is the first time in my life time that we have reached the First Round and I just hope that it doesn't take 40 years to get back to this stage again. I just want to thank Graham Drury and all the players for the great memories they have given us including scraping past Bedworth in the first match, plus home wins over Salisbury and Worcester. The two matches against Luton have also been great battling displays, so thank you Mr Drury."
Corby took over 700 fans to Bedfordshire for the replay, and those in attendance certainly made their presence felt, with non-stop noise for the entire match. The players and management were extremely appreciative of their fine support.
