Webster Hoping For A Happy New Year
Adam Webster hopes the new year will mean a new start for him at Corby Town. The striker has endured a nightmare time with the Steelmen so far with injuries restricting him to 13 appearances in all competitions
But as Corby prepare to resume their Blue Square Bet North campaign at home to Nuneaton Town on Saturday, he hopes that is all about to change.
"It's been typical for me that just as I finally got fit, the games started being cancelled," he sighed.
"But now I'm finally fit and hopefully I can start showing the Corby fans what I'm all about."
Webster should certainly get his chance to impress in the coming weeks as the packed schedule ahead for the Steelmen means the squad will be used to its full extent.
"Touch wood, if I can stay fit for the next month then hopefully I can get myself into the team and then stay there," he continued.
"It's all been a bit stop-start for everyone of late and if the weather gets bad again then we could be looking at an even harder run of games.
"This is also the time of the season when you start getting injuries and suspensions and players are coming in and out of the team all the time.
"So there's no doubt that everyone in the squad is going to be needed and hopefully I'll be able to take my chance when it comes."
With Nathan Jarman set to miss the next three games through suspension, Corby have a gap up front alongside top-scorer Ben Mackey.
Steve Diggin, Michael Frew and Webster are all in contention to fill that vacancy and Webster hopes opportunity will now knock for him.
"If I get the chance to get on the pitch, hopefully I'll be able to get a couple of goals and start reproducing the sort of form I have shown at other clubs in the past," he said.
"We are a bit behind in the play-off race at the moment but there's so much football still to be played.
"The games are going to come thick and fast over the next couple of months.
"So things can change very quickly and there's a lot points to gained in a short space of time.
"We're not a million miles away from the play-offs right now and some good results will put us right back up there again
