Sensara: "Ambitious Corby Are The Right Club For Me"
Netan Sansara believes he has made the right move in joining Corby Town. The full-back joins The Steelmen from Blue Square Bet North Bet rivals AFC Telford after making nearly 30 appearances in the Football League and playing for Dundee in Irn Bru Scottish Division One.
He said: "What I was looking for was a club with ambition to match my own, who are looking to move forward. Corby fit that criteria exactly.
"The gaffer Graham Drury told me a bit about the club and what he is trying to achieve. It sounded like something I wanted to be a part of. It is a long term plan with Corby and I was to help everyone here to achieve their aims.
"I wasn't going to join a club that was happy to be sitting in mid-table. I wanted to be with a team that wanted to get higher and Corby did well last year and clearly want to do even better this year. I want to help achieve that.
"The gaffer feels that signing a player like me reflects their ambition and I am pleased to be part of his plans. People tend to sometimes forget about the Blue Square Bet North but there are no mugs in this league these days. There are some very good teams and players in this division.
Sansara is also keen on some stability in his life after a topsy-turvey few months. He added; "When I went to Dundee I thought it would be a new start for me, but unfortunately for me their financial problems never allowed that. Then I went to Telford but there were problems because of my clearance from Scotland took a couple of weeks extra to come through and then I didn't get into the team.
"I felt I was good enough to be in their side, but to be fair to their manager, the team was winning and if it isn't broke then don't fix it.
"So that was good for them but frustrating for me as I wanted to be playing. That's another reason I am at Corby, to get myself playing regularly again. The gaffer has been really good and said that he wouldn't stand in my way if a higher league team comes in for me, but at the end of the day there is no reason why I can't go higher with Corby.
"The lads nearly made the play-offs last season and I think there is every cgance we can go one better and get into the play-offs this year. Hopefully next year we will be a Blue Square Premier side."
